Cultural Heritage
Archaeological and historic sites are protected under provincial, territorial and federal legislation. Cultural Heritage projects are managed within FMA by two divisions focusing on EIA and non-EIA projects. These divisions are staffed by 16 permit holders and a number of assistants who have a wide range of experience across the Canadian provinces and northern territories.
What We Do
Based primarily on provincial, territorial and federal legislation, protection and assessment of cultural properties are government regulated, with appropriate approval processes required for developments which may potentially impact these resources. FMA provides services that address these requirements, with expertise throughout western and northern Canada.
FMA has experience in the development of cultural resource management, interpretive venues, historical research and public archaeological programs.
FMA’s archaeology divisions are involved in the development and completion of a range of service lines, including:
- long-term management programs

- predictive models
- constraints mapping
- impact assessments
- inventory
- mitigation
- monitoring of development activities
- postimpact assessments
- archival research
