Our People
Within the Division, there are currently 17 full-time staff. The majority have masters’ level academic training in an eclectic mix of fields, including human geography, environmental design, anthropology, museum studies, archaeology, biological sciences, botany and ethno-botany, community development, human health, religion, and history. The team also includes a number of subcontractors with technical skills and/or regional and community interests who are regular members of project study teams.
All personnel within FMA’s Community and Aboriginal Affairs Division work
in inter-locking study teams. Assignment to a particular study is based
on previous experience, existing relationships with specific Aboriginal
communities, familiarity with the study region and current project obligations.
Projects and personnel with the Division are supported by geomatics professionals skilled in digital database management, preparation of quality maps and constraints plans as well as training and support for Aboriginal community staff engaged in GIS traditional land use and occupancy mapping studies. Administrative assistants with special skills in transcription and media (voice and video) recording and duplication, and project management assistants who track schedules and budgets round out the Division Team.
